A Hurlburt Field airman seriously injured in Afghanistan on Friday will be met by his wife at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Md.Tech. Sgt. Joe Deslauriers, an explosive ordnance disposal technician at Hurlburt, lost both legs just above the knee and his left hand after an improvised explosive device detonated, according to family friends.His wife, Lisa, is expecting their first child — a son — in early December. “The Air Force wanted her in place before he got to Walter Reed,” said Janice Bausch, who is friends with the couple.“Joe loves being in the Air Force,” said Bausch, who has known him for six years and attended the couple’s wedding last year. “He loves it.”
